Boomer’s Sportsbook is now open at Ellis Island Casino in Las Vegas, bringing a new local-focused betting option to Nevada’s gaming scene. The opening is part of a $35 million renovation at the off-Strip property and marks the second Boomer’s location in the state.

The launch celebration included a ribbon-cutting attended by Boomer’s CEO Joe Asher, Ellis Island owner Gary Ellis, Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley, and former Mayor Oscar Goodman. Goodman placed the first wagers — one on the Las Vegas Raiders to win the Super Bowl and another on the San Diego Padres to win the World Series, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Ellis called partnering with Asher “like being in the football business with the Kansas City Chiefs,” adding that the sportsbook addition is part of his plan to attract more visitors.

Expanding Across Nevada

Boomer’s made its debut last week in Elko at the Commercial Casino and will soon open a third location at Casino Valle Verde in Henderson. Asher’s goal is to have 10 Nevada sportsbooks running within a year.
